Licensed Guides and Charters

Properly licensed fishing Guides and Charter Fishing operations are critical for the Pacific Northwest sport fisheries.

There are tens of thousands visitors in the Pacific Northwest each year.  Many use professional Fishing Guides to fish rivers and Charter Fishing Captains for saltwater fishing adventures.

Fishing charter operations which operate in the saltwater areas here in the Pacific Northwest will always be operated by a USCG licensed Captain.  Many Fishing Guides who fish rivers also are USCG licensed Captains.  Many Charters and River Guides hold a Master’s Captain license, regardless of whether they operate in the saltwater or the freshwater river.

Those required to have a USCG Captains license operate in “Federal Navigable Waters”, as defined by the US Coast Guard. There are fishing guides in both Washington and Oregon, who operate in waters, which are not considered “Navigable“.  In this case, the guide is not required to hold a USCG license.  Nonetheless, these guides are required to maintain proper state licensing, insurance and often other state mandated license requirements.  For more information on licenses, go here.

Here you will find professional members of Northwest Guides and Anglers Association listed below in no particular order.

*NWGAA does not endorse, suggest, or refer any saltwater charter, freshwater river guide or any person listed below. They are simply listed as professional members.  It is your responsibility, as the client to ensure you hire a properly licensed and insured river guide or saltwater charter.
