Action Alerts are an important way for Northwest Guides and Anglers Association membership to react quickly to issues which affect our sport fisheries.
Action Alerts will also be shared on our social media. It is important we share these and ensure that not only our membership is informed, but recreational anglers and the general public.
An action alert is a message that Northwest Guides and Anglers Association sends to mobilize you; the guides and anglers of Oregon and Washington to take immediate action. The action alert is calling you to support a specific point of view NWGAA has on an issue. We are calling you to take action to influence fishery issues or public policy that affect fishery issues. That action typically comes in the form of a letter or email written to fishery management, such as commissioners, marine board, legislators, senators and more.
Prompt Action
Typically, NWGAA Action Alerts are in reference to a timely issue. That means that prompt action is needed in order to affect upcoming decisions. Action alerts are a cost-effective and efficient grassroots organizing tool.
If we send an action alert, we are asking you to:
- Contact your member of the Legislature or Senate of proposed legislation; and/or
- Contact WDFW Director; and/or
- Contact WDFW commissioners; and/or
- Contact Your Governor or
- Write a letter to the editor about a specific item in the news.
NWGAA will explain the public policy issue. We will also explain how you can impact the decision. Often, you can copy and past our post or alert and email it to the appropriate recipients for the Action Alert. However, it is best you write your own response or at the very least, modify what we post. That way those whom read it, take it more seriously.
